Question about getting specific rooms

I was wondering, we are going back for our anniversary/my birthday later this year, and we are staying at the same resort as we stayed in for our honeymoon (Wilderness Lodge). If we request it a week or so before our arrival, what are the chances we can get the same room number we stayed in last time

Some people say faxing the specific resort works better than calling customer service. How would you do it?

You might as well request it now- waiting until closer won't make any difference. It will all depend on if it is available on the day you check in. Faxing won't help as room requests are computerized now and they don't read faxes.

And, even when the requests were not computerized, a lot of the faxes were just being thrown away because it was too much trouble to deal with them.

Besides making the request now, if you don’t get that room assigned at check in, it would not hurt to ask the CM at the front desk if that room is available. It’s possible that it was not when your room was assigned, but will be at check in.

The resorts no longer accept faxed room requests. You can make your request by calling 407-WDISNEY; there's no need to wait until closer to your trip. The CM you speak with will enter your request into your reservation record.

As the PP said, you can also ask at check-in if that room is available. Specific room number requests are one of the most difficult requests to fill, so consider it long odds. Essentially, the guest who has that room before you would have to be checking out on the day of your arrival, which is kind of a long shot.

The odds of you getting that room are small. It's really better to request what you liked about the room. If you liked that it was on a high floor and faced toward MK, that should be your request. If you liked that it was on the ground floor and close to the boat dock, that should be your request.

If you request just a specific room number, and it's not available, they won't know why you wanted the room in the first place. Also, they won't hold the room for you - it will be assigned in rotation like any other room, so like a pp said, unless the person in the room just happens to be checking out the day you are checking in, you're out of luck.

We got the exact same room in June 2011 that we had in August 2010. The same housekeeper too.

We didn't request to be in the same room, but we did make exactly the same requests each time. Things like 1st floor, king bed, preferred room location.

3 trips in a row we got 'our rooms' at POP. Adjoining next to the main pool close to everything. The 3rd time we had to stay in another room for the 1st nite and moved. Twice we got 'our room' at POR but the 3rd time we were disappointed until we got to our room. It was a corner room overlooking the river. Had to thank the girl that assigned it to us because it was so much better than 'our' room! :rotfl: Have a great time!!
