Going on Dream at end of April and wondering what do we need to take with us to get back on the ship in Nassau. Is it just the room key or do we need our passport's or driver's license? Worried about carrying the passport around town.

You need to have your KTTW card to get off the ship. You need your KTTW card and a photo ID (for those 18 and over) to get back to/on the ship.

I am planning on taking our driver's license. If something happens to them they are easier to replace than passports. Also don't keep your wallet in a back pocket, backpack or easily pick pocketed purse.

Do we still need photo ID to get back on the ship at Castaway Cay or is the KTTW card enough?

Technically, each time you leave the ship, you should have photo ID to get back on the ship. You could argue that, at Castaway Cay, you would only be getting back on teh ship of you got off it but I believe (although can't honestly remember) that they tell you to take photo ID with you then too.

Yes, they do say to take your ID with you at Castaway Cay, as well as your KTTW Card, but in all the times we've been there don't
ever remember being asked for the ID on the ship.

However, last time we were there this past October, we were asked to show both at the Bahamian Security checkpoint at the dock.
Don't know if this is done regularly or just hit or miss, but we did have to show both on that day.

Bring it with you.

I'm glad someone asked this in a post; on our first cruise we never went went on excursions (we only stopped in one port) so excursions will be new to us for our next cruise! Thanks to everyone who answered my CC id question!

Once we were asked for photo ID in Nassau and once not. Since they tell you to take photo ID (we use driver's license), it means that they are probably supposed to check it even if they don't always but assume that they might and take it with you. We never take passports at any port unless told that we have to.

About 4 years ago we were in Nassau on a Carnival cruise. When we came back to the Port Security checkpoint my wife found that she had left her ID in the cabin safe. I had my ID with and all 4 of us (two young daughters also) had our ship cards. We all have the same last names and everything but the guards would NOT let my wife through. So I had to go to the ship and get her ID while my wife and daughters hung out by some shops until I got back. It was a couple hours before all aboard time so it wasn't a big deal but it was very clear that they were not going to let her past without the ID.

Thanks everyone! I will make sure we all have our driver's license with us along with the room key.
