Hi all, we are from Maine and were about to buy annual passes for this coming year because our daughter will be going to college in the fall in Orlando. We now are second guessing whether we will actually use enough park days to make it worth it for all 4 of us but will definitely buy one for her since she will be able to go much more often than us since she will be living down there. So I am wondering...if we just buy HER an AP, is there still a way that I can take advantage of booking on property stays if I know a good AP rate could apply when we plan to go? Or would SHE have to make that reservation? Would she have to stay in the room? Maybe what I should do is buy hers and then one for myself (since I normally would be making reservations) and then not for my two other family members (just in case we do not end up using 10 park days in the next year after all)? any thoughts? thx

If only one AP for daughter, she would have to book it under her account, be listed on the room, and be present upon check-in to present her valid AP to qualify for the discount. She would have to add all of you as friends/family to her MDE for the free memory maker and she would have to be the one to download the pictures (or give you access to her MDE).

Not likely she'll need to be present to check in since can now be done ahead of time online & notified by text when room is ready & room #. But, I agree you'll all need linked & she'll need to be a guest on the ressie.

Not sure what the exact rules are for Florida college students, but I'd call and inquire if she would qualify for a Florida Resident pass. She might be able to purchase one for herself and on the payment plan. Then you could buy an annual pass for yourself, as our of state. Individual with annual pass must stay in hotel room to apply

An annual pass provides admissions and related discounts to that person. Those discounts are not transferrable. If that person is not staying in the room, the passholder discount is not valid.

If the passholder is not staying in the room, you'd be committing fraud. It's not fraud that will ever get prosecuted. It's probably not even fraud that will get caught. But, it's still fraud.

I have no advice, but wanted to say hello as I’m also from Maine! :wave2:
Best of luck to your daughter on her new adventure!

I definitely would not do anything fraudulent, just trying to understand how it works with annual passes. OK, one last question then - if I get an annual pass for myself (in order to take advantage of the possible AP room discounts), is there any restriction on making fast passes for my other daughter or husband if they are staying in the room with me but do not have tickets yet? Do they have to have active park tickets, or just room reservation, to have fastpasses 60 days in advance?

Pretty sure they have to have active ticket to be able to select fast passes.

You will not be able to book FP for your daughter or husband if they do not have active ticket media in MDE. You must have active tickets in order to book FP+, for APs you just need to purchase the AP or renewal and link it to your MDE, you do not have to actually activate it in order for it to be considered active ticket media.
