Question about Full Refund and Disney Travel Insurance

We expect that our Oct 17th Canadian Cruise out of NY will be cancelled, just have not received official notice from Disney at this time. Our PIF date is July 19th.

If cancelled and we choose a full refund, or if we cancel before our PIF date and request a full refund, will we also be refunded the amount of $ we paid for the Disney Vacation Travel Insurance as well?

Insurance purchased through Disney is not actually purchased until the final payment date (since up until that date, you wouldn’t have expenses to be covered by insurance) so if you cancel before the original final payment date, you will receive a refund of any money paid for insurance.

if Disney cancels the cruise after the PIF date, I am not sure of the official policy, but I have read anecdotal reports saying that insurance payments were refunded or moved to a re-booked cruise date. Someone who has recently had a cruise cancelled should be able to verify that.

I had a July cruise that DCL cancelled. They transferred the cost of the DCL insurance to the new cruise (I chose FCC instead of a refund). If I had chosen a refund, the insurance cost would have been refunded, because DCL cancelled the cruise.

If you cancel the cruise before paying the cruise in full, you'll get all of your money back (assuming you're not concierge- they don't get deposits back unless DCL cancels), including the insurance cost.

Once you've paid off the cruise (even if it's before the official PIF date), I think the insurance is yours & nonrefundable at that point, but I'm not 100% sure of that. I do seem to recall getting my insurance confirmation after I pay in full, regardless of the date.

I can only speak to the part of your question where DCL cancelled. Our cruise was cancelled by DCL and our DCL insurance was fully refunded.
