Question about FP and changing ticket

My son has an AP which expires 12/12. I want to renew, but I want to try to do it in person when I am at WDW so that I can try to get the apple pay promotion. If it doesn't work I will just pay for the renewal anyways with my credit card. But, my plan was to link a MYW ticket to his account so I can make FP for January trip now and then once I get his renewal done move the ticket for another friend or family member to use. Will that mess up any FP that I make? Or, can I leave the ticket linked to him and then just ask at guest services when we activate his AP to use that and not the MYW ticket. I remember reading that you can prioritize tickets that way.

1. FP+ reservations are not "connected" to any particular individual ticket.

If you first add a new ticket to that account, then move the original ticket to another account,
the first account's FP+ will remain intact.

2. You can do either of those things, irrespective of FP+.
