Question about fourth FP and my touring plan

This is our fourth time going. Our last time was in 2015. Fourth FP were not available and they had just begun the whole FP+ system. I’m still trying to set up our touring plan for our July 2-9tth trip. We do rope drop (we are used to crowds as all our previous trips were Easter) and take afternoon breaks. Sometimes we go back to the parks, sometimes we don’t. Kids will be older this trip 15,12, and 7 so am thinking of planning more days of going back to the parks. We do not do park hoppers. So with that said, we used use two fp in the morning at like 11 and 12 leave and save one for when we came back to parks like at 4. This time when planning, I used them all in morning like 10, 11, 12. Resort Break. Then banked on being able to snag a forth FP for after our afternoon return. Now I’m second guessing. What should I do. I am two days shy now of thirty days out so if I need to switch one fp now would be the time to do it! Thoughts? What kind of fourth fp are usually available? Are theY available later in the afternoon especially in the later afternoon evening. My thinking was to get rid of my fp early to get to the 4th fp. But I guess I’m not even sure if I know what I’m doing.

your plan sounds good. as soon as you scan your 3rd, you can start checking for a 4th (and so on...). almost everything can be available as a 4th if you are persistent enough. obviously the most popular rides won't come up as often, but many can still get them.

Additional FP, after using the first three, have always been available. You may find the Availability post in the FP FAQ helpful.

Summer is a generally slower time in the 12 month calendar. You will have no trouble getting 4th FP+. You can even get headliners with just a bit of persistence. We go every summer and usually go through 6-8 FP+ or more in a typical 6 hour day.

I use your info religiously! I don’t know how I missed the fourth fp in my 2015 trip. Severe oversite on my part lol. My first trip was in 2013. Then we went back to back 2014 and 2015. I will definitely catch up on the availability post. I just got nervous with my touring plan knowing that the 30 day opening for choices will be opening for many soon! Thanks for all your info!

We were able to get multiple additional fast passes per day at all the parks when we went in November. In fact, outside of the Extra Magic Hours, I'd say 95% of the rides we went on were with a fast pass. That said though, you'll need to constantly check for availability, and be willing to walk a bit more criss-crossing the parks to get to your fastpasses within the hour windows. Well worth it, I think. We did many rides that I would never have waited more than say 15 minutes in line for.

I personally rope drop a park, take advantage of low waits, leave to the hotel, then head back around like 3 or 4pm with our FP's beginning then. So we have 3 fps when crowds are big. Then we grab extra FP's after those are used

All preference whether you start them later in the day or right near park opening
