on december 17 i will be getting in a plane for the first time. i was wondering what people have done who have little or no control of their trunk to stay siting upright in the seat. i will have my cousin sitting beside me but i dont want her to have to hold me up the whole 2 1/2 hrs we are in the plane. any ideas would be helpful.

I can answer that one- pillows! I have the armrests put down and pillows stuffed on either side of me. Also I know this probably impacts the person behind me, but I *have* to tilt the seat back so I'm not sitting directly upright. ---Kathy

FAA rules dictate that seats must be in an upright position for takeoff and landing, and the ADA can not override a safety issue that impacts non-disabled individuals. This is so that the person behind you has adequate room to get out of their seat in an emergency evacuation.

Others have also mentioned using a transfer belt to hold you in.
