Our plan is to leave New Orleans at Midnight on Friday, the 17th.

If we drive straight, we would arrive at WDW around 10 am Florida time on Friday.

What can you tell me about rush hour traffic and the best way to avoid it?

I am assuming around 8am is rush hour and at that point we would be 2 hours from WDW.

Thanks

By 10 am I4 is quite managable.

Jacksonville could be an issue for you. It's between 2 and 3 hours from WDW. You may want to take 295 around Jacksonville.

If your coming from New Orleans you won't be driving anywhere near Jacksonville so don't worry about it. Enjoy your trip!

If you come to Chicago, our rush 'hour' is from about 4:30 AM till 7:30 PM. :moped: :faint:

Thanks for all the help, everyone. :wave2:

Dan-that's some serious rush hour you've gotten up there!!!!

Coming from N.O., Jacksonville will not be a problem, you won't go anywhere near it. About 2hours out you will be around Gainsville, FL it is a college town and while I have not driven it at 8am I don't think it will be too bad. When you get to the turnpike there is a new road that will take you to Disney without using I-4. The exit is for FL429(not sure of the exit number) it comes after the first toll boths. Take 429 to the Disney/Hartzog Rd exit and watch your speed after you exit, it drops to 35 and is frequently patrolled by deputies. This road is new and may not show on maps yet if you can't find it online you may be able to stop at the first service plaza on the turnpike and get the exit number so it will be easier to find.
