Question about FL Tours

It seems that most people here either use or refer others to Mears. To avoid making multiple stops, we don't want to do the van service service. I compared prices on the town cars between Mears and FL Tours and FL Tours is about $50 less (round-trip)...and it includes a 30 minute grocery stop. Has anyone used the town car service on FL Tours? Was it satisfactory? Why does it seem that Mears gets most of the referrals here?

I'm not quite sure what you mean about Mears. Are you referring to DME? Where are you trying to get to? Airport to resort? If so, then DME (which is technically Mears) is a good way to do that with no additional cost incurred. They also handle your bags if you arrive before 10:00 p.m., so it isn't necessary for you to wait at baggage claim.

I used Happy Limo and had a great experience with them in April/May. I have not used FL Tours though, sorry. I would not recommend the traditional Mears shuttle unless a last resort for someone.

If "DME" means Disney's Magical Express, I am not referring to that. For people staying at a non-Disney resort (such as the Swan or Dolphin), they are not eligible for the Disney's Magical Express and need to make other arrangements to/from the airport. Lots of people have suggested the shuttle services offered by Mears transportation. I have been looking at Mears and other companies (such as FL Tours) and it seems like Mears may not necessarily be the best option. I will also check out Happy Limo. Thanks for the suggestion.

Mears (shared shuttle) service is the least expensive way for a couple to get from MCO to their hotel.

A car service provides personalized service. You'll get to your resort faster then waiting for a shared shuttle and many companies provide a grocery stop.

Mears towncar is expensive. Companies like FL Tours, Tiffany, Happylimo, Murray Hill...offer lower pricing.

Hi!! I have used Florida Tours a few times, most recently in Sept. I was very happy with the service & plan to use them again in Dec. The cost is the same as the other private services we have used in the past. The cars are very clean, which is really important to me. I hate getting into dirty cars. Drivers are friendly, helpful & on time. Plus I like to patronize a DisBoards sponsor. Forgot to add, we did not need the stop at a store, so can't comment on that. Good luck with your decision!

I did use the Mears shuttle to the Swan a year or so ago...just for the sake of information gathering. See what I do for you guys??!! Anyway....I found it to actually be better than I had expected. We did make several stops along the way, but it was fun talking to other people in the van, and the driver was terrific. He gave some very interesting info regarding the area. It actually took me about 70 mins to get from plane to the Swan..not much longer than DME.
Now...a car service would be a lot quicker...about an hour. It takes about 10 mins to get from the plane to baggage claim, then about 15 mins there, then 5 mins to the car.....about 30 mins to a resort. That was my experience in August to the Dolphin. Yes, it costs more but it's nice to have personalized service.
