Question about FL Panhandle Beaches

OK, it's been a bazillion years (or at least 10) since I visited the beach anywhere along the panhandle. SO - if you were driving to Orlando from TX along 10 and wanted to take a one day detour to the beach, where would you go? Somewhere good for kids, picking up shells, etc.

I would go to Destin or Ft. Walton Beach...they are actually right next to each other, it is virtually the same beach.

The sand is very soft, white. The ocean here is this gorgeous green-blue. It's why the area is called the Emerald Coast. I would definetly stop there.
