Question about fishing at Ft. Wilderness

To say that my DS-15 loves to fish would be a gross understatement. He LIVES to fish!

Anyway, he is thinking of going over to Ft. Wilderness (we are staying at WL) to do the cane pole fishing that is $4/hr. I was wondering if he could charge that to our room or if I need to send cash with him -- anybody know?

Well not quite sure about that one. We had to pay cash when we went last summer. There is a rec stand where you rent the poles, and other equipment & buy the worms etc... we had to sign papers for it & all. I don't think the question came up.. so we paid cash.

I don't know any of the details, but my DS12 has fished there. He is now too old for the inexpensive fishing excursions with other kids. I just wanted to chime in that your DS sounds like my DS. I think my DS has gills. Have fun.

You hit the nail right on the head, Dizzyworld! We have always said that Zach is part fish!! In fact, he has had to go the last 2 weekends without fishing and we're not sure he's going to make it.

I meant to ask a similar question. We are staying at Ft. Wilderness in about 9 days (yay!), and DS asked if he can bring his fishing gear. I thought he could. Do you know if it's okay to bring your own stuff?

Hello... sorry been off line all day !!!!!

We did catch some pretty nice looking fish... we were on the shore area, about 100 ft from the pier.
Keep in mind that it was me, my neice, and my two boys (10 & 5) so, guess any fish was nice !! LOL But I must say, I believe they were sea bass, and about the size of a small flounder . My son (10) caught, what we believe was a big fish.. but it jumped up when it took the worm, and we all screemed & jumped back. . not sure just what it was !!!

I think you'll have fun.. we are going back to WL in August, and plan to go fishing again.....
