I bought my house before I got married to my husband. He is not listed on the mortgage. Now, if we buy a house together, would he (we?) qualify for the tax credit? A friend said they were in our situation and were told they did, but it didn't sound right to me.

If you are married filing jointly then no he would not be eligible for the credit. I would check www.irs.gov or talk to an accoutant. I am a realtor and this question has come up before and the married couples in your same situation I knew did not qualify. Again though I would check with the mighty IRS just to make sure. Good Luck!
