Okay, so right now me and my family are scheduled to go to WDW in September for bounceback free dining. Of course, if I get accepted, they will take me off the reservation. For now, we've decided that FD is still the better deal (instead of the CM discount).

I would love to stay in the room with them while they're here. I'm guessing not, but I'll ask anyways -- if I'm not on the reservation, then I can't have a room key, right?

That is correct as far as I know. I assume you're asking for Extra Magic Hours reasons?

If there is room in the room they can add you once they have all ready checked in so you will get a key but not need to have bought the ticket or get the FD. On the other hand they can keep you on the reservation and save the ticket for another trip and you can partake in the free dining with them. You might not always be available but it might still be worth it.

PFFoppa21, no actually, it's just because I'll need a key to get in the room.

Traveliz, thank you! That's exactly what I wanted to know. :)

It really doesn't seem like you need to be taken off of the reservation. Most likely you will request those days off to be with them anyways. Keep an eye out though because around that time this year they had the dinning plan for cast members and you can always rebook then.

I agree - stay on the reservation! If you decide to remove yourself, you can still get a room ticket (I just got one with my family when they visited in July and I was not on the reservation).

It gets a little confusing because my family was also on the DDP and so my room key has their information on my card. They told me that even though it says I have the DDP on my card, it will come up invalid if anyone swipes it and may cause some problems with the room reservation. I just used it to get access to the room and everything worked fine.

Thanks, I doubt that would be cheaper than free dining though? Unless you can also get the room discount on it.

If I stay on the reservation, because it's free dining, wouldn't I have to have the same park tickets as them?

Yes. For my family, they only purchased a one day park hopper (for each of them), but then got the DDP for the entire trip (a week). I used my free passes to get them in on the other days. They didn't visit during the free DDP, the free time may require park tickets for each day of your stay, but I'd assume it's like the rest of the year and you only need a ticket for one day.

In regards to the dining, my family was on the DDP and I obviously was not. When we went out to eat they would ring up my family with the DDP on one ticket and ring me up separately with the CM discount. My mom still paid for everything on one card, but the double receipts got a little confusing. We learned that each restaurant does it a little different, but they all did a pretty good job of explaining it to us when ringing up the totals.

That's what I thought. And it is the same for free DDP, but I just didn't want them to waste a ticket on me. They'll probably just get one day tickets because they will have APs.

Me being on the dining plan for 10 days would be pretty nice, but I guess I'll just figure it out later. I just wanted to make sure I could get a room key.

Thanks everyone. :)
