Question about expiring points?

My Grandfather owns DVC. He has some points that are going to expire in March of this year. No one in the family are able to go this year. He doesn't want to rent them out in such short notice so this leads to my question. Has anyone, or is it even allowed to trade the almost expired points with another member for the same amount that doesn't expire in a few months? If they are able to use them before March? Would love to know. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I'm pretty sure each contract can do only 1 transfer a year. Your question would be two transfers -- one out of your grandfather's account, and one into your grandfather's account. So, no, I don't think that will work.

Technically possible, practically impossible. I've tried. You would need to arrange a swap in different UYs. You transfer out your '14 points and receive back '15 points. The opposite for your partner in the exchange. None of the points could be banked on either end before the swap, but they could be banked once recieved.

If they are not banked already, he can bank them into next year until 10/31. If they are banked already, he cannot transfer them anyway.

Why doesn't he want to rent them out?

I had a points that were going to expire Feb. 1st 2015 and literally just rented them out last week through David's and at full rental price too.
