First Disney cruise in 4 years!! I lurk on the boards a lot, but haven't posted in awhile..but we leave in 28 DAYS!!!!
We are scheduled for an excursion..a sail and snorkel in Tortola..through Disney.

It is from 12:30 until 5pm... and I noticed our return time is by 5:45!!
we have never done an excursion before, but I can only assume because it is through Disney, should the excursion run late (mechanical issues.. whatever)..they wait for us??

Please put my mind at ease we will not be left behind should the excursion have an issue!
Thanks...

Yes. If you are booked on a excursion through DCL the ship will either wait for the group or they will get you to the next port.

Have no fear! If you scheduled an excursion through Disney the ship will wait for you should there be a delay.

It is only if you're doing an excursion on your own that you would have to worry.

Bon Voyage.

Yes, they'll wait. On our last week's cruise on the Fantasy, we didn't disembark from Port Canaveral until we were a few hours behind schedule, and the captain said it was because the ship was waiting for travelers to arrive who were delayed due to that week's winter storm, which had disrupted air travel throughout much of the country. I have no doubt that those travelers had purchased their flights via DCL, & that's why the ship waited for them for hours.

Not exactly the same thing as a DCL excursion, but the same principal applies. If DCL is responsible for you, they'll want to get you on the ship if at all possible, even if that means making other passengers wait for a bit.

We've been on an excursion that ran late. They waited and we left port about an hour late (there were over 10 buses on same tour). The only way they won't wait is if they must leave because of things like the gov't needing them out of the slot (for another ship) or if the tide affects the ability to leave port. There is normally enough time allotted between ports that they can absorb delays. This only applies to DCL booked excursions, though. The 5pm time is your expected time back at the ship (not when you leave the excursion site). So you have a long 45 minute window.
