Question about EMH when DCA opens at 9am

I have read past threads that suggest arriving at the gates 15-30 minute before the start of EMH. That time was based on EMH starting at 7am. Should I still follow that strategy if EMH starts at 8am? Or should we plan to arrive a little earlier? We would like to be near the front of the line. Thanks in advance.

15 minutes ahead is not early enough if you want to be one of the first in line. You'll need to be there 30 minutes early at a minimum, and 45 would be better if you really want to be one of the first in line.

Yes, i would arrive 30-40 mins before EMH hours.

Thanks for the info. I think we will be aiming to be in line at bag check shortly after 7. There is always multiple cups of coffee.

Honestly even on 7 AM EMH I wouldn't do 15 minutes if you hope to be in the very front.
