Question about ECVs and Buses

Hello all,

I've been reading quite a bit about using ECVs and getting on/off buses. But I'm a bit confused. Some people say that the Bus Driver drives or steers the ECV on. Some say that the owner/rider drives it on. Some say that the owner/rider steers the ECV onto the bus.

As this is my first time using an ECV, I am a bit nervous about trying to drive it on and making everyone wait while I try and get the hang of it (or falling off the Bus >_<).
Does anyone know how this works?

Thanks ^_^

Riders are supposed to drive it on (not steer it on.) Some riders are more adept at this than others. Some bus drivers take pity on the inept ECV riders and park it for them in order to save time. You might want to practice steering the ECV and parallel parking it on an imaginary bus before trying it on a real bus.

Also, you can go to your local grocery store or Walmart that have ECV's and practice some. Remember to to keep ECV on lowest speed when getting on and off bus.

In my experience you drive it on and park it however last year I had a fantastic bus driver who showed me how to park it . Dont be nervous do the best you can and let peopl;e help you.

The store ECVs are much larger than ones you can rent off site. Don't be discouraged by their awkwardness. I have seen family members ride/steer the ECV onto the bus. The drivers are very helpful just remember to turn the speed to slow!

I was a first time ECV driver on buses last week, and that's pretty much what happened. I drove onto the bus, then let the bus driver park it securely in the spot. When we got to where we were going, the bus driver came back, moved the ECV in to position so I could drive it straight down the ramp. Very easy! And unlike some of what I've read, I was never asked to remain on the ECV while the bus was moving.

Just to add to @Simba's Mom's great advice: When you are at WDW, never hesitate to ask a CM (Cast Member) for assistance - just let them know it's your first time with an ECV, and you need a bit of guidance. You'll be surprised at how quickly you feel like a Pro! :)
