Hi! I'm new the boards and not sure if I'm posting this in the right place.

Question is: I have a Disney Vacation Package currently booked for **/**/** - **/**/** @ POFQ w/Free DDP. I did not know that I could rent DVC points when I booked this vacation. (I would prefer to stay in one, I have been interested in DVC) If I cancel the vacation package and rented points would I lose my current ADR's and have to worry about making new ones? I know I would have to pay for the plan which I'm fine with. But I know getting dining reservations is tough the closer it is to your trip. I really dont want to lose them since I have a lot of character dinners booked. Its my son 5th birthday & 1st Disney Trip.

A 2nd silly side question: it looks as though the studios only have 1 queen & 1 sleeper. Are the sleepers horribly uncomfortable??

Note: This post has been edited to remove specific date info, so it would not be construed as a "Reservation Wanted" post. Edit appears in Indigo - Chuck S

Not sure on the answer to your ADR question. My hunch is that no, they would not cancel. But you might want to check on the dining board -- I'm sure you'd get a quick answer there.

Before canceling your reservation, though, it would probably be a good idea to spend some time on the rental board to find out whether your dates are even available. November is pretty soon, and it can be tough to find a week in one spot in the 2 month period.

Thanks! I was hoping they wouldn't cancel since the ressie # are different then my vacas # but it must be connected for them to be able to know your 90 day mark? I'll check on the Dining board. I'm not canceling anything until I know for sure I wont lose my ADR's AND can secure those dates! My sister is asking a friend to check to see if they are even available. If guess if not this time I can always plan my next year to stay in DVC. I was hoping to be an owner by then :o)

oh I know its silly but how are those sleepers?

i've slept in one at SSR. it's not bad - not like the older sofabeds with thin mattresses. they have thick memory foam type mattresses which are reasonably comfortable. (but they are only double sized and they are not quite as comfortable as a "real" bed.)

I switched a cash reservation at POR for August to a DVC reservation when I joined DVC in July. I had already made my ADR's, a Backstage Magic reservation and a golf tee time. None of these reservations (ADR's etc) were canceled when I canceled my cash reservation. If you read the fine print of the terms and conditions you will know that you can cancel a cash reservation (if I remember correctly) up to 45 days prior to your arrival without penalty. After that there are penalties. If you have air reservations through Disney with the land portion of the reservation you will have to request they not be canceled or they will be automatically. I also found that you need to find the "right" CM to do this. They don't seem to all know how to do it without also canceling your plane reservations. One last thing, if you rent DVC points make sure you have that reservation confirmed before you cancel your POFQ reservation. Hope this helps.

just fyi you will loose your free dining if you rent points you can still get the dining plan but you have to pay for it it may not be worth it to switch.

The OKW Studios have 2 queen beds, no sleeper sofa. All other DVC resorts will have queen beds and full sleepers in studios.
