Do we have to show ID when using our DVC card for discounts? And where can I find a list of places that give DVC discounts, ie restaurants, shops in DTD, in the parks, etc?

I don't know that my husband and I will always be together and I don't usually carry much with me, besides my room key. Don't even carry cash! haha

Thanks!

ETA: I'm asking about carrying a PHOTO ID along with my DVC member card? Sorry for the confusion...thanks

Yes, you need the card for discounts although sometimes they will just accept your room key which will designate you as a DVC Member, but safer to carry the card. Going discounts can be found on the member's official site: once on go to Member's Privileges, then to Member's Perks, then to such perks for Walt Disney World. When you arrive for a stay you are also given a perks booklet for perks in effect at time of your stay.

Awesome, thank you! Do I need to carry my ID also? I mean, I know it's always a good idea, just won't worry about it if I probably won't get asked for it? The less I have to keep track of the better, I've got two young kids plus one big kid that I keep track of everything for....everyone's room keys, tickets, etc. SOOOOO if I don't have one more credit card sized thing to worry about losing, the better off I am! :rotfl:

Sorry, I just re-read my post. I'm asking do I need to carry a picture ID such as my Drivers License along with my DVC Member card.....so sorry about the confusion!

It is required for some discounts to have both, such as when purchasing AP ticket media. I find in the shops and restaurants, they are able to match your membership to your credit card as well. So, I would say yes, have ID with you. Those little neck pouches are great for carrying this type of card with you.

I would bring your driver's license along in case the need for an adult beverage comes into play. You would think the gray hairs all over my head would negate the need but I get carded more now than I ever did in college. It could be stricter enforcement or just that I look young for my age. I'm going to go with the "look young for my age" excuse :)

If you are staying at one of the vacation club resorts, your room key card will already have that built into it. That way everything can be charged to your room and just make one payment at the end of your stay. Also you will get a pocket guide of member perks to let you know where you can get discounts. Enjoy your stay.

Are you saying that even if you don't mention it, you will automatically be given the DVC discount when you pay using your room key which indicates you are a DVC member? I'm not so sure about that. And I wouldn't want to sign the check at full price and then trust at the end of my stay that all of my discounts will be on my room bill.
