I have a question about the DVC golf discount. We are new DVC members, and our first trip on points will be Jan. 15-25, 2011. We plan to buy an AP, and we're trying to decide between the AP and the PAP-- I know you may be thinking, what does this have to do with a golf discount...
Here's my question and why it's related to the AP: Last time when we visited WDW, I was able to play golf after 10AM on a "tee it up" special where you could pay $15 more and upgrade a water parks and more pass to play "standby" at one of the premium courses. The water parks and more card allows one a free 9 hole round at Oak Trail. The PAP allows golf at Oak Trail but not at the other courses. My question is whether it's better to get the PAP and pay for upgrades at the better courses or whether it's better to buy the DVC golf discount membership.
My understanding is that the DVC golf membership costs $50 per year and allows the member to get 25% off before 10AM and 40% off after 10AM. The advantage of that discount is that I could make tee times, but since I'll be playing by myself (my wife and kids don't like golf and are happy at the parks), would I be better off to upgrade the PAP. Any other advice about golf at Disney and the DVC membership would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andy
