Hi guys!

Quick one. Is there a specific period during the year (start of calendar year, close of fiscal year, other) when Disney usually does the best offers for buying into DVC?

Or is it all totally random?

Thank you very much!! :thumbsup2

P.S. And please, no messages about using you as a reference!!!! Last time I asked a question like this I got 5 messages from people about using them as references... :rolleyes2

I already have a good friend at work who's asked me, and anyway we won't be buying until we can afford it. Plus convincing my wife is NOT an easy task. May take a year or two. :goodvibes

The promotions are usually random through out the year and more than likely depends on sales. With Hawaii coming I wouldn't be surprised if they have something in the work now.....including maybe BLT. But I will admit I have been out of the DVC-DIS loop for a while. Busy with 4 little ones and work...little computer time. Good luck on your quest for DVC!

There is always a sale or incentive going on. I think the best way to look at it is the bottom line price, regardless of the various marketing. The bottom line price for direct sales from DVC has been steadily increasing. So, while there is always a "deal", the out the door price next year will probably be $2 to $4 per point higher than this year. This is the basic trend the last few years anyway.

You might check out resales as those are usually much cheaper in the long run than even the deals you get directly from DVC.

Although this doesn't answer your true question, the best "time" to buy (from Disney directly at least) would likely be while you are in Orlando. This way you can sign the papers, have them notorized, and get your "Welcome" package before you leave. No mail or notory hassles.

Of course, you only need the notary if you are borrowing from Disney to pay for the timeshare!

It seems that September is a good time for "extra incentives" - I decided to buy-in this past September b/c I learned that if you asked, you could get an additional $2 off per point - it was like an "end of year sale" because Disney's fiscal year ends on Sept. 30th.

It worked for me ... I got a $12 / point incentive instead of the $10 I would have gotten had I decided to purchase in August or held off until October. My guide did chuckle when I politely inquired about the "$2 end of year sale" and mentioned "You must be on the DIS Boards", but did confirm that it was in fact available.

Yes the best tiem to buy is normally when you are staying at WDW they give great incentives and normally something to cover what you just paid for your trip.

Second best is on the cruise they offer wonderful incentives and discounts. If you are already a memember this is the time to add on, we saved a lot on GCV when we bought last year.

Finally at Christmas time they normally have a web special you can watch and at the end they give a number to call where they give some good incentives. Your friend who already owns should get an invitation, they can tack you on or send you the link to sign up and watch the web cast. Afterwards call right away just to register your intrest in talking about the incentives. Even if you aren't ready to buy it locks in the webcast rate for a week or so, this way you can think about it and do the math.

Get a Chase rewards card to pay your down payment - no intrest normally for 6 months on the down payment.

Good luck with purchasing, we love ours.
