Question about DVC and Disney Cruise

We are planning on going on the Disney Cruise next year. We will most likely stay at AKV on points, and then do the cruise. I was wondering how to get from AKV to Port Canaveral? Do you book the Magical Express, or is it some other kind of bus that you have to book? TIA

You can purchase bus transportation through DCL. That's what we are doing for our cruise in August. I think the price is comparable to what DCL charges if they pick you up directly from MCO.

The cheapest way to WDW to port is rent a car from Avis or Budget in DTD or Hertz from Caribe Royal hotel. They may pick you up from your resort so call and ask. The cost is about $40 total for a full size car. Free shuttle at port from the rental car agency to the cruise terminal. There is a gas station right off the exit (car rental) that you can fill up, get water/beer, snacks, etc before returning the car. It's takes about 45 mins-1 hour to get there depending on how fast you drive.

The other alternative that cost about the same as the DCL transfers is a towncar service for a family of four.

What I like about not booking DCL transfers - I leave when I want to leave and not when the bus is scheduled to leave. I get there earlier or later. I can make stops and get some goodies to take onboard.

You might also want to give some thought to renting a car and returning it at Port Canaveral. That way you can stop at the store if there is anything you want to buy.

Thanks for the replies. If I go with the towncar option, what about car/booster seats? My boys are 1 and 4.
