Question about DVA

I am loosely considering opening a DVA and funding it with my new Chase Sapphire Reserved to get the $300 travel credit. How soon are those funds available? How are the funds distributed to you if you want to use it for dining, spending etc.?

I actually have been considering the same thing. However, I was wondering if you need to have an onsite stay to use the DVA or is there a way to use it just to purchase/upgrade tickets or for dining and purchases. We are heading out next week with offsite stay but need to upgrade one ticket to AP, we also have two character meals. I currently have the Chase Sapphire card but would put money into DVA for triple points.

You can use it pretty shortly after. Like that day, unless it's a new account. That being said, you will not earn bonus money on spending money out of it until it has been open for 120 days.

The DVA can be used to make payments on a package or room reservation. You can use it to purchase tickets online but not in person. If you're a DVC ownet, you can pay for the dining plan or even your dues. You can use it to pay for specialty cruises, tours or pre-paid dining experiences.

You cannot use it on site at all. No restaurants. No ticket upgrades. No souvenirs.

Thanks for the info. That won't work for me at all.

This made me realize I have a question. We have always used Costco travel for booking cruises--I assume that we couldn't use the DVA to pay Costco for a Disney cruise?

You can use Costco as a TA and still use a DVA to pay for your cruise. But instead of paying through Costco you'll have to call a special number given with your account info because you aren't supposed to share your account info with anyone else.

Enjoy your vacation!

Yes, we did it this way :D Getting an extra $200 back from DVA as well as the Cash Card from Costco :D

Can you use DVA to pay for an onsite hotel through the convention group? Like for Dapper Days?
