Question about drop in fare: Southwest

This post REALLY does eventually pertain to WDW...so please bear with me. We are going to travel to Las Vegas this year for vacation to visit the in-laws (and I'm so excited )... anyway, we want a non stop flight and on any airline non stops are slim at best out of Hartford. Southwest has a non stop available for our days and times we are looking to travel. If I book with Southwest now and the fare goes down, can I request a credit from the airlines to put towards our tickets for next years trip to WDW? Does it matter what type of fare purchased? I don't want to risk the only non stops getting sold out, but I was just wondering if we could recoup the credit for another flight....I hope this makes sense.

Hi:
Yes, you can request a credit and use it on any Southwest Flight but they have an expiration date. I think it's a year from the date of your original reservation not the date of your flight to Las Vegas. Your second flight (the one you are using the credit on) has to be taken before that expiration date. I hope I'm making sense!

Does anybody know if the credit goes back to each individual who purchased a ticket? Just wondering if me & DH can use all of the credits for a trip without the kids within that year.

When you change a SW reservation and receive ticketless travel funds, they can be used by anybody on any SW flight within 1 year of original purchase. All that is needed is the original reservation number and a name of one of the pasengers.

The travel funds or credits are good one date of purchase... not reservation. So if you trip is with in one year of your purchase date you are good to go!
