How much are soft drinks on board? Does the mug/card pay for itself if you don't drink that much soda? How much are mixed drinks on the average? We are going on our first cruise 1/19/02!

Oh, you will have so much fun on your cruise! DH and I just returned today from our land/sea vacation!

As for the drinks, I'm not sure how much help this will be but here's what our experience was. We got refillable mugs while at WDW and definitely got our money's worth out of them. On the Wonder, since we booked with AAA we received two free refillable mugs to use throughout the cruise. I don't think we used them half as much as the ones at the resort. They were good to have on the day at Castaway Cay, though, because I think that's when we used them the most. I believe we only had them filled twice on the ship other than Castaway Cay where we must have gone to the bar about four times to have them filled.

Since we didn't have to purchase sodas, I didn't really notice how much it cost to buy them. I can tell you that sodas are free with dinner so you could always get your fill of soda at that time if you didn't want to buy the mugs or purchase a lot of sodas at other times.

As for the mixed drinks, I had two during the cruise and I believe they averaged around $4.50-$4.75. Maybe the other more experienced cruisers can confirm that as the average price. I noticed in the navigators that there would be a drink special of the day for about $3.50, though.

Sorry this is so long... I hope it helps some! Good luck with your planning and have a wonderfully magical cruise! :)

The refillable mugs were out on the 12/15/02 Disney Wonder - they have gone to stickers on your card.

Also you have a server at the coffee bar and it closes at midnight and reopens at 6:30AM - you can call room service for drinks during that time.

Just off the 12-15 Wonder as well. We didn't get the soda package because we don't drink that much soda, but I wish that I had bought at least one. For $20, we would have come out even or at least saved $5 or $10...one soda a day would about cover it after the gratuity is added in. I found I wanted more caffeine than usual, probably to stay awake as much as we were trying to get in in 4 days.

Mixed drinks, with gratuity included were between $3.75 and $4.75. One day we had 2 for 1 Margaritas. DH bought the ESPN beer mug ($9.99 plus gratuity), and it was worth it if you can drink draft beer since the refill of the mug is more than a single draft beer. (I made him share with me! ;)

Beware of smoothies (virign or not) they will set you back $3.75 to $4.75 each if you or your family become addicted to them!

Have fun...we did...I want to go back...right now!

We just came back from the Dec. 14 Magic cruise and bought one drink sticker and used it between three of us, but we found we really didn't drink that much soda on the cruise at all. We mostly drank the lemonade which was free at the ddrink station. It was quite refreshing. The days that they had the 2 for 1 drinks were a deal ! For $4.95 or so you got 2 drinks. We had the Midori Coladas at the St. Thomas sailaway and boy were they good. Went down way too easy!!

I looked at the room service menu and it seems that there is only "charge" drinks. Is there iced tea, lemonaid or juice available?

What is the going price for the Coke sticker? Surely it is not the same as the mug.

Russ

It is the same as the mug, they have to pay for the disposable cups somehow!
I thought it was well worth it and I far prefer the stickers. Who wants to lug a mug around, it's always in the cabin when you need it. With the stickers it was usually hanging around my neck. It's especially great on castaway cay.

I agree with Alex on this 100%. Those mugs are a pain to lug around - and how many times are they "lost" or "forgotten"?
I prefer the new ways on the ship even when I have to stand in line to get something from the coffee bar. At least I know it's for our health and protection.

A gentleman sitting behind us at one of the shows was complaining because he was promised a refillable mug from AAA (and they had just gone to the stickers so he didn't get one). Anyway, he said he was going to make sure he got some type of mug on this trip for free, no matter what!
He eyed DH's beer mug and said he thought that would be fine! (By the way, the beer mug is pretty nice, but carrying around that heavy glass mug all the time was a total pain as it is certainly larger than an average beer mug...I would agree the soda sticker is a much nicer option than those refillable mugs--wish they had a beer sticker ;) )

The sticker option seems so much better to me, for cleanliness and ease. We got the mugs one time in WDW, and i ended up just leaving it in our room...It was such a pain to bring it around...

If you dont get the sticker option and just purchase a soda, do you get it in a cup or a regular coke bottle, for instance. (our last cruise on carnival you got bottles...), Just curious..

Thanks!

What do you need to claim your AAA refillable mug/sticker?

Althought I am a member of AAA, my cruise was booked with Dreams Unlimited. Am I still eligible for the free AAA mug/sticker?

Has any AAA members been able to obtain a free mug, without booking your cruises through AAA travel services?

Does the sticker attach onto the KTTW card?

Is the idea to buy one sticker for the family or one per person?

I'm sure this has been covered in the past, but where can you not use the sticker?

Thanks

The sticker does go on your KTTW card. It is good at all the bars on the ship and on Castaway Cay for glasses of soda. It does not cover cans or room service (soda is always free with meals in the dining rooms).
The stickers are definitely per person!

You get cups on the ship and cans on Castaway Cay.
