We've never flown to Disney so I'm not sure about this. If our flight is delayed or cancelled and we have to catch a new flight, do we have to call Disney to inform them or do they magically know somehow? :tinker:

Hubby had a situation this past week where he spent the whole day in the airport due to a problem with the plane and it got me thinking about it. lol I'd hate to end up stranded in Orlando with no way to get to the resort because they showed up and we weren't there. :p

If it is just your flight to Orlando, it doesn't matter what time you arrive. If you have an MDE reservation, you can scan your band and get on a bus. They don't have buses scheduled for each flight...it's just fill them up as you come in.

This is correct. Because of a mechanical issue, I missed my connection on a recent trip. I got into MCO 4 to 5 hours later than planned. It was not an issue when I checked into DME. No CM even commented.

Disney/Mears doesn't schedule buses such that they are anywhere near full. They appear to use your flight information to understand the rough distribution of how many people will be going to which resorts at which time and plan for that. They know that flights get messed up on a regular basis and there's plenty of excess capacity on their buses to absorb the families that show up late.

I arrived several hours after my original flight because I volunteered to give up my seat on an oversold flight. I had no problems using the service when I finally did arrive.

Thank you all! If you can't tell, I don't ever fly. haha

Going to Disney: If your flight is delayed or cancelled, you will not be treated as (relegated to being) a walkup (denied Magical Express) when you finally do arrive. But it is courteous to notify DME of a multi-hour delay although it is not nonkosher to fail to do so if the only way is quite onerous such as having to use the six dollar per minute Airfone in the plane seat back.

Going home: The normal deadline for making changes to your DME reservation is morning of the day before the day you leave the resort. Last minute changes such as due to cancelled or delayed flights are not out of the question but a later DME bus to match cannot be guaranteed. Or, if your replacement flight is earlier, limited availability might give you a new DME bus that way earlier than is optimum.

"If you can't tell, then I don't ever fly, haha"

No, I couldn't tell. I wasn't an English major either, and am not good at reading between the lines.
