Do rewards points on the Disney Visa expire? DH and I are thinking of getting one, but will only be going to Disney every 3-4 years.

So if they do expire, how long does that take?

Thanks!

I think they expire five years after you earn them, but you can transfer them to a Rewards Redemption card that expires in December of the year following when you request it (for example - a card requested now would expire in December 2015). Once it is on the Rewards card, you can use that to buy Disney gift cards, which never expire.

Thy do expire and every month your statement will tell you how many points you have and when they expire.
We use ours for spending money while we are there. Good luck!

That's what I do too ,
I have been lucky enough to go once a year for the past few years ,So I love to put huge amounts on it and watch those points add up ,I have used it for my kids tuition payments ,school books ,I had to get a new furnace? air conditioner and I also used it when I got new furniture -
I have been very careful to always pay it off so I don't think I've had interest for a couple years now .
I always save it until about a week before vacation and have it transferred to the redemption card exclusively for something really special at Disney -
1st I always buy refill cups for my family
Once I got very expensive perfume in France for my DH another time I got jewelry from that gallery in the polly I think its the Wayland (it's at the boardwalk now and some snacks for everyone and a couple nice meals with my family .
MY kids finally done with school and I don't see foresee anything to big as far as expenses so this year will be quite a bit less ,but it's still nice to even have a few bucks that feels like free money

Thanks for the replies! Next question: can the card be in both mine and my husband's name? We are debt-free and trying to maintain a decent credit score. So can we both be on the Disney visa, or just one of us?

Do you mean have two cards on the same account? Yes, you can do that. I am primary and DH is an authorized user We have the same account number.

I think some people get separate accounts so they can do two signup bonus offers.

It won't be like a car loan or mortgage where you will both be on the contract. One person is the primary accountholder; the authorized user will also see that card on their credit report.

For the best sign up bonus if you want to use the Disney Premiere Visa as your primary points card, you can get the first acct in your name - Premiere - with the $200 bonus and $49 fee - and use that one for accumulating points. Add DH as authorized user.

Get the second acct in DH's name - regular card - with $200 bonus (mail offer or referral offer) and no annual fee - just spend the minimum to get the bonus. Add yourself as authorized user.

That way you end up with $400 sign up bonus and 2% back in Rewards dollars on the Premiere account.

If this will not be your main points card, just wait until you find an offer a $200 bonus on the regular card (again, usually mailed to you or find someone with a referral), then get one account each, and you'll end up with $400.

Alice - I like your line of thinking! I have seen lots of mentions of the $200 sign-up bonus for the premiere card, but I don't see it right now on their website. Is this offer available now, and if so, how do we grab it? Thanks!

Also, this is my first post ever to the Boards...I've been listening to the podcast for a couple of years now though! Thanks Budget Board!

Welcome!
There's a mailer out now; I think it's for Premiere. The referral offer for this round expired last month; that was for the regular card. You could try calling and asking for the $200 sign up bonus offer you've heard about.

Alice- I mean I want the card to show up on both our credit reports. Sounds like this will do the trick! Thanks for the help :)
