Question about Disney Resort Payments

I don't want to put anything besides the Deposit (already paid for) on my credit Card (want to keep a back in case murphy happens). Is it smarter to pre-pay for the room before I go down there or do it in cash upon check in? I made a phone reservation, so I can pay off in a couple of weeks after lining up the last of the money for it. It is a room only reservation because of the Military discount mom gets we save 40% between room and tickets separately.

Assuming you are talking about a room only reservation, the balance is not due until you check in. That is what we always do. You can still get your deposit back if you cancel only a few days ahead (5 or 6, I believe), so I wouldn't give Disney any more of my money until I had to, just in case something happened and we needed to cancel. Seems like it would be more hassle than necessary to get it back, so I'd rather just keep it.

No one way is better than the other, but rather what you feel comfortable doing. We usually do packages, but the couple room only reservations we did, I paid for them ahead of time as I just wanted everything paid for before we got there. If you want to pay when you get there but don't really want to carry alot of cash, you can always get Disney gift cards and pay with those at check in :).
