Question about dining plan as a passholder

I am trying to decide whether to add the basic dining plan to our reservation for 8 nights in April. We are booked now with room only as passholders. Is adding dining limited to only a certain number of guests or can I call and add it at any time without worry that it won't be available?
Also, as I already have some PS reservations (but told them that I was NOT on dining plan when I made these PS's), do I need to call and have these PS's changed to dining plan or does it matter - or is that even possible?
Thanks for any info you all have! Trying to get all this figured out in the next few days!!:confused3

I booked room only with an AP discount May 3-10. The cast member told me I could go back and add DDP whenever I made my decision. I also made my ADR's (with a differenct CM) and was told it didn't matter if I was on the DDP - just to be sure I told them when I checked in at the restaurant.

Thanks Minniesfriend! That's what I was hoping to hear. I'm still trying to decide whether to add DDP so I didn't want to feel like I had to make a decision before really thinking it through. Have a great trip in May!

Maybe someone can answer this question; and I apologize for hi-jacking this thread my ques. When adding the DDP to a room only res. with an AP disc. when do you pay for the dining plan? Is it on checkin; like with a DVC reservation? TIA!

You have to pay for the entire reservation when you add the DDP, it changes your reservation from room only to a package with different conditions for how you can cancel. Be careful, they also tried to slip trip insurance in on us.

They did the same thing with me. I knew how much adding the DDP would add to my total. When the CM gave me a higher price, I questioned him, and he said that was what came up on his screen. I had to specifically question him, if insurance had been added, then had to tell him to take it off. Also if you change from an AP room only to an AP with DDP, they will credit your credit card for the amount already paid, rebook it as a pkg with the DDP, and give you a new confirmation number. The room only confirmation numbers are like 12 digits long, whereas the pkg confirmation numbers are 8 digits long. With a room only you only have to pay a one night deposit, with the rest due at check in, and you can cancel without penalty. However, adding the DDP changes it to a pkg and puts your reservation under the pkg rules, which means it must be paid in full by 45 days out and you will have to pay penalties for any changes made to it.

In my case I paid in full for my AP room only ressie on the day the AP discounts first came out. I called the next day to add the DDP and they said they would credit the amount I had paid back to my credit card, then recharge my card for the new total. I asked if they could just credit the amount I had already paid to my new reservation and then I could just pay to add the DDP. I was told that since they were two totally separate reservations (room only to pkg) that they could not. It took several days to get the credit back, so for several days they had several thousand dollars tied up on my card, (as my credit card had put a hold on my account for the amount of the second reservation and even after the second reservation showed up, the credit for the first reservation still took a couple of more days to show up). Anyway, make sure you have enough credit on your credit card to cover both reservations.
