Question about Dead Man's Chest (Spoiler Alert!)

Okay, we just got back from seeing the movie!! I thought it was great and there were all kinds of people dressed up as pirates. One guy looked and sounded EXACTLY like Jack Sparrow. It was amazing!!!

BUT anyway- I have a question! When they found the chest and Will is about to stab the heart, Jack tells him not to. He explains why, but not one of the 5 of us can remember what the reason is!

i didn't understand why either. If they stabbed the heart that would be the end of Davey Jones and Jack would have no obligation to him.

Because only Davy Jones can call off the Krakken from going after Jack!

Yup, stab the heart and there wouldn't be anyone to control the krakken...although now I guess it's under the control of the East India Company anyway

I understand what you guys are saying, but, didn't Davy Jones call the krakken up to do his bidding? So with Davy out of the picture who would call up the krakken? You would need control of the Flying Dutchman to control it.
