Question about customizable maps at disneyworld.com

It says you can only order once so I thought I better ask some questions first. We're trying to decide the best way to approach this. Some things DS is too little for but we'd still like to do, somethings are a don't miss for everyone. If you DON'T select an attraction, what happens to it on the map? Is it just not listed in the legend or is it listed differently? And how different are these maps from what you can get when you are in the park?

The maps are quite different from the ones you pick up in the parks. They are printed on nice paper (back and front) and are a little fancier. One downside is that you will get your 4 parks on a total of 2 pieces of paper as they print them duplex style. I think you can order them again, but at least 6months later?? Anyway, the things you select will appear on the map, the things you don't won't be marked within the map. We made ours after coming home from WDW and included all of the things we did on that trip. It was a nice way to remember what we did while there for that vacation. I am hoping they continue offering this treat to the public as I would like to return to the website and re-mark the things we do on our next trip in Feb.

We just got ours the other day. They are beautiful. The dots marking the things we selected are in gold, and the other things that we didn't select are marked by red and blue dots. I love the map of the entire "world". You can only get them every 6 months. When I got them I told my DS's that Mickey sent them to get us ready for our trip next year. DS9 was so happy that he teared up.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my maps but there's one thing to be careful with -- the name. There is a slot somewhere on there where it says recipient's name or something like that where it leads you to believe you can pick the name of the map. I was doing a map for my nephew so I put his name on there. I wanted it to say something like "Jude XX guide to the XX park" instead it came to him with my last name and reads "The XX family's guide to the XX park." It's fine and his mom actually likes it but I'm bummed about it.

AND -- be careful if ordering for others. Like I said, I ordered Jude's and then wanted to get them for myself (we are going on the trip together -- but we are 2 separate families going) and it wouldn't let me. I couldn't even log in with another name from the same computer. I had to have my boyfriend start an entire new account (at work) to order them.

They are beautiful though, much prettier than I thought they were going to be (they look sort of like a pirate's treasure map) and they are NOT coming to the world with us in Jan. I would be afraid of wrecking them. These will be keepsakes.

I agree, I wish they didn't fold them. I wish they rolled them and then mailed them in a tube. It would make it look much nicer when you frame them. According to the website, you can order them every 6 months. When I order my next set, MGM will have changed it's name. I will have one that says MGM and one that says Disney's Hollywood Studios. Then the tough choice will be, which one to display.

I ordered these and LOVED them!!! Only thing is I used my name and address, so they say the "my maiden name" family instead of "my married name" family... Which kinda sucks cuz I ordered these for our honeymoon trip to WDW... Oopppsss.. Oh well, ya win some and ya lose some!
