When booking a car through Costco Travel do you have to show your Costco card when picking up the car?

No, we never have. I have booked at least 10 cars through Costco. You enter your membership number when you make the online reservation.

I don't have a Costco membership by my brother that lives in California does. I'm flying into SNA with 8 people and the plan is for my brother to pick us up with his SVU and I'm going to pick up the rental and we all go back to his house in two different cars. Some of the days that I go to Disneyland we are going to leave the rental at his house for him to use and my family is going to use the SUV.

If I understand this right I can book the reservation using his Costco membership but put the driver in my name. Also it looks like I can add my wife and brother at no additional costs

The additional driver fee will be waived for a Costco member’s spouse, domestic partner, or a surrogate driver for a mobility-impaired renter, plus one (1) additional driver for Costco members at locations in the U.S. and Canada

Am I missing any key details guys?

Being able to have all three of us would work great since my Chase card requires the drivers to be on the car rental agreement to be covered. That way I don't worry about anything when it comes to insurance.

IIRC ... the second driver will need to present their drivers license in order to drive the rental.

It can be done at any ALAMO <== I do not have first hand experience on this ~ though.

We had to show our Costco card at pick up in March. We rented from the B Hotel by Downtown Disney. Much cheaper than the Car Care Center. I'd have it to show just in case.

I did our Costco rental/Alamo check in online and may have entered the second driver info ahead of time. We had a printout and went straight to pick our car, I showed the paper, my DL, and a credit card at the gate. They did not want DH's license. We have rented at MCO and ONT in California recently with this experience. I guess it can vary by location or company.. I have rented at SNA but it was several years ago and I don't remember.

Based on your explanation, why doesn't he rent the car and drive it, and you drive his SUV? That way it is covered as he is the Costco member.

Alamo (PHX) asked for my COSTCO card and swiped it to capture my membership number. I asked what would have happened if I didn't have my card. They would have called to verify membership

I've had to show my membership as well. In my experience I've been asked for the card about 30% of the time. I think it all depends on who you get at the counter. If you use the kiosk or online check in you could still be asked at the exit gate.

We usually use online check-in so haven't dealt with the people at the counter. Never been asked by the person at the gate to show my card.
You DO have to enter the Costco card number on the reservation now if you are using the Costco code in you reservation, will not complete unless the number is entered.
Not sure if they verify if the account number is active/accurate though.

This will only work if you have your brother rent the car. I don't know how it could work for you to rent it without buying a membership. Costco rentals with Alamo include the member's partner or spouse, plus one additional driver for free. Your brother, his wife plus you.

I have an upcoming Costco rental that both my husband and I will be listed as drivers and we both have Alamo memberships as well. I am doing online check in before I arrive. I have to pick him up from the airport a few days after we arrive. It would be nice not to have to stop and show his DL. Were both of you present at pick up? We've both have been asked for our DLs in the past when we left the garage.

We rented our car through Costco and I provided Budget with the printed reservation that listed the Costco number. I would also suggest signing up for the rental car membership club, this saved a lot of time at MCO. Instead of going standing in a long line, we were able to go over to a Kiosk in the garage. I would guess it shaved of 30 minutes.
