Hi, I am frantically trying to make plans for November and thought I had picked CSR vs POFQ as our resort but then I spoke to the Rep for the Disney travel plans. I told him I was concerned with the waterslide at POFQ being a bit scary for my 4 1/2 y.o. (both of my kids are easily frightened and have nightmares) and he seemed to think that the pool at CSR was also scary (the Jaguar and the aztec ruins). From the pictures I have seen of the waterslide it looks as though the jaguar is just sitting above the slide but he said where the kids go into the slide it is like going into a jaguars mouth?!? I have not seen pictures posted of the beginning of the slide - any help would be appreciated. If anyone has pictures of the slide - that would be great. I know I am probably overanalyzing but this seems to be a tough decision! Thanks for any help. Chris.

::MinnieMo Hi! My family and I have stayed at CSR several times and I can honestly say that I don't think the slide actually looks into the jaguars mouth. The pool is absolutely beautiful and I really don't think there is anything scary about it. But can I give you this piece of advice... If your kids are frightened by a waterslide at the POFQ pool you might want to reconsider taking them to WDW for a couple of years. You don't want them to be scared of the life size characters and larger than life exhibits and have their trip completely ruined and sour them towards such a wonderful place. If you have any other questions feel free to send them to me. We have been going since my 20 year old was four, and might be able to help out with any concerns. I hope you do not take offense to my response and I wish you and your family a fabulous trip. :flower:

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I have been to WDW 12 times myself and we took our kids in Feb 2004. My older son's first Disney trip was actually in 1997 when he was 7 months. We are aware of the "scary things" around the world -- we carefully plan. We stay away from the bugs life movie, tiki room, etc. We will stay away from stitch this time. Last time my older son loved Buzz but my youbger one at 3 y.o. was petrified of Zurg. We also use hunters earphones to lessenen the loud noises for my 4 1/2 y.o. -he has very mild sensory intergration problems and they work wonders!! We made it through fireworks and all rides with no tears, thanks to the headphones!
Thanks for the info on the slide. I looked on epcotfans site ( thanks epcotfan! Great site!) and it looks like it is just the one jaguar on the top - from what I can see. I think he'll be fine with that. I think we'll stick to CSR. I love the idea of a quiet type resort with less themeing. We stayed at Pop Century in 2004. A little too themed for my liking but the kids loved it! Anyway, I am definately not offended, I'm always happy to hear opinions. Thanks again!

I have pictures of the slide on my website. You don't go into the Jaguar's mouth. It is sitting above the slide about half way down. Water comes out of its mouth and hits you as you slide underneath.

Thanks so much for the great pics. I love your site and buzz2001's too. Thanks so much. It doesn't look scary at all. thanks for all the help deciding. i think it will be CSR for us in Nov! thanks again.

mine love the slide at csr and never have been scared. My son has been going down it since he was 18mths old.

Thanks Mario. :) I do have to say though, the slide is pretty fast. The first time I went on it I was shocked at how fast it went. Some people come off the slide so gracefully. I look like I dive-bombed into the water. LOL.

If you lay flat it is extremely fast but if you sit you can control your speed more.

During our May visit, my almost 5 yo ds LOVED the slide at CSR. I cannot tell you how many times he went down it!! I saw LOTS of even younger children coming down this slide, and not a single one seemed frightened. If your child is not a strong swimmer, he will have to be careful. The water at the bottom of the slide will be over his head. My son, like the other children I saw, just wore a life jacket; and I waited for him at the bottom of the slide in case he needed my help (He never did.). Also, there was not a CM at the top of the slide. If there are 2 adults, one of you may want to go to the top of the slide with your child while the other waits in the pool.
