Question about Coppertone spray...

I don't use the Coppertone kind anymore because you can feel the residue on your skin. It's yucky. And when you get in the pool, it rolls down your face and burns your eyes. That irritates me because it hurts, but also because that tells me that it's not staying very waterproof. We use the Neutragena kind. Either way though, we easily go through 3 cans on vacation.

I am in the minority. We went to WDW for 9 days last August and didn't even finish one whole can!

DH, DS and I would all use it to spray our arms and legs in the morning, and put lotion on our faces. We are blond, blue-eyed, and so pale we are almost transparent but we never even got pink. :confused3

I always bring 3 cans or more but we end up dragging the full cans back home.

That got me thinking...could you use it everywhere or would the zinc be an issue?

Zinc oxide is a barrier sunblock, not chemical, so it doesn't really get through the skin. You could use it all over. I use Blue Lizard Baby all over on my infant, except for her face and hands.

BTW, we don't use the sprays on our faces. For that we use either Neutrogena or Ocean Potion face formula, either the liquid dab-on or the wax sticks, which don't run when wet.

I burn if I think about the sun, I usually wear SPF 60 under my coverups and still turn a bit pink if I am out for more than an hour or two. Can I combine the Zinc, like Blue Lizzard with the Coppertone SPF 70? has anyone tried it? :cutie:

I thought it woul be more convenient for me to use the Coppertone spray because it woud go on easier, but after 3 days we were out. That was just using it on 2 little girls and I didn't even do their legs either. I was surprised that it ran out that quickly. I spent $13.00 on another can at Pop Century gift shop. I would definately think about bringing more than you think you would use.

We also ran out of the spray while at WDW and ended up buying lotion. I bought the spray because of the convenience factor, but I have to say I'm a little leary of using it on a regular basis. I have 6 kids so when the spray first came out I thought it was wonderful because it saves so much time and is less messy than lotions. One day, I was putting it on the kids downstairs (It was a really windy day so I thought it made more sense at the time) and the carbon monoxide detector across the room started going off. Makes you wonder how safe it is for the kids to be inhaling those fumes. Even if they turn their heads and cover their faces they still end up inhaling some of it.

For those of you who love the spray (like me!) there is a coupon for Banana Boat sprays in the latest Costco coupon flyer. $3 off a pack, limit 2, takes it from $13.99 down to $10.99. Each pack is 2 8 oz cans (bigger than the normal 6oz cans) and a 4 oz face lotion, at least in the sport version. We tried the kids version last year and it ran all over the place and was messy and had to be rubbed in. If I'm rubbing, I'll buy the cheaper lotion. We MUCH prefer the sport version spray.
