Question about Converting DC ressie

If I have a reservation I made by calling the DC 800 number and I eventually get a better rate (say an AP rate) through CRO, is it easy to convert that reservation? Or do I cancel the DC ressie and make a new one through CRO? I'm trying to avoid having to be refunded money and just have the deposit transferred to the new reservation. Is this possible, or do I get refunded and then send a new deposit?

DC discounts are only booked through WDTC. AP discounts are booked through CRO. The deposits cannot be transferred between the two.

DO NOT cancel your existing reservation until you have finished booking the new one. The CM you book the new one with will be able to cancel the other one for you. What they do is refund your deposit on the original reservation and they charge you a new deposit on the new one. If you used a credit card originally, that is how they'll credit you. Otherwise they will mail you a check. Usually takes a couple of weeks max to get the check. They are pretty quick.
