Question about closing

We purchased 180 pts. @ SSR with June use year. We signed on 7/12/04. The estimated closing date is 3/1/05. We received our temp. cards in July with an expiration date of Nov. 2004. I've heard that DVC won't send permanent cards until closing. I used my temp. card yesterday @ The Disney Store, the manger really looked it & me over. She said that I should have received a plastic one. I told her that this was my temporary card & was still waiting for the permanent card. I shop frequently @ the Disney Store & don't want this to become a problem. So, just curious, will they send my permanent card before my closing?? and Why does it take so long to close??

ETA, I have seen others on here that signed on about the same time I did @ SSR & have already closed, I don't understand.

I bought SSR last oct and we had our blue cards around jan. It was 60 days after we payed the 10%in full. I do not know if they have changed anything. I would call your sales rep. I started oct 18th, nov 11 had in 10% buy jan BLUE CARDS!!

We did not close until May when the resort opened, and my building opened June 7th which was my 1st visit!!! Any more questions just ask!!

Closing cannot occur until the unit you own is much closer to occupancy. Basically, DVC has sold you something that doesn't exist yet. They need to wait until a physical structure exists before the paperwork can be filed with the county recorder.

We bought points at SSR about 9 months before our building opened. And, about 4 months after placing the deposit, we received our official membership cards.

I wouldn't expect your closing to occur until the last week of February, but your cards may well arrive much sooner.

Thanks for the replies. I'll wait until it gets closer to the expiration of my temp. cards before I call. I just want to make sure I have it so I can use it for the Disney Store as it gets closer to Christmas.

Well, first you better hope that we don't lose the Disney Store discount before Christmas. The sale of the Disney Stores to The Children's Place is supposed to be announced any time now. Depending on how the dust settles, it's very, very possible that the perk will disappear.

Yep, very true. Children's Place signed a non-binding agreement (why I do not know) back in August to buy the Disney Store Chain. So, it might just be a matter of time before Disney doesn't own the Disney Store chain anymore.
