question about changing room ressie

I have a room booked at BC CL for a week starting August 21. We are thinking to moving our vacation back a week with first arrival day on August 28, but we can't decide for sure for a few more weeks, due to my husband taking a new job. Should I go ahead and add the new week to my existing reservation and then cancel the part that I don't need later? I'd hate to miss out on definitely getting my room at the BC with the 40% discount.

Did you book yourself thru WDW? I'd phone them and ask. If you do add the extra week to cover yourself with dates, you have until 45 days before arrival to cancel without penalty.

I would add to your existing reservation and then cancel what days you will not need. I was told to do that from CM before, they always say to add few days before and few days after your reservation, because you never know if you want to add days and if you wait too long the days maybe gone.

I did my reservation by phone. The CM said I could cancel any or all without penalty up until 5 days before my planned arrival. I thought 45 days out was just the deadline to make the final payment??

The difference is with booking a package or room only reservation.
Room only you can cancel/make changes up to 5 days before check in with no penalty

Package reservations need to be canceled/changed before your 45 day mark to avoid penalty fees (though if your change causes a price increase rather than decrease, they will waive the fee.)
