If I have flights already booked with SWA and I see better prices ,when opening the booking process form (with the second window at the ready to cancel the original flight),will the typed in requested new dates be "on hold" for the few minutes it takes to cancel the first one.
or
Is it possible that during the cancellation process your new dates could be snapped up by someone else?
I'm curious if the booking process (right up to authorizing the payment with C/card) actually holds the booking in limbo for these few minutes.
Thanks

Simple answer , yes , that could happen, it did to me...

If you are changing flights in the change flight window in travel center, I don't think it will happen. You will get a credit. Try it ,unless you confirm the change nothing will happen. It takes you all the way to telling you how much credit or more you have to pay.

Good luck.

You don't have to cancel your old reservation before making the new one. Just click travel center at the top of the page, and then "change air reservation". Nothing is cancelled until you approve the change over to the new reservation.

Yes....I should have mentioned that the new flight might be a Ding...and I don't believe you can do that through the Travel Centre??
