Question about car rental (quick we leave tomorrow)

I have a reservation for a car to pickup tomorrow at MCO. My DH has a little "flaw" on his driving record from 2 years ago. (okay it's a big flaw) On every car rental site, it says you must have a clean driving record for the last 3 years. How strict are they on this? Do they check everyone's record? We could just put the car in my name, but I won't be 25 for six months and that is an added charge of $25/day to put it in my name. What do you think? Am I worrying for nothing?

I would call the car rental company and ask. I wouldn't want to be surprised.

A big flaw will be a big problem. I would call first. I would try to see if you can leave it in his name with you as the driver. Does he have to drive, maybe they will let you sign a waiver stating he wont drive

Even if we just put me on as a driver it will cost the extra $25/day. (really it is stupid, I got my license in FL at 15 1/2 so I have been driving for 9 years) I don't want to call, because I don't want to alert them to it and write something on my reservation. Oh well. We leave for the airport in 4 hours so I will just wait and see I guess. Worst case, they charge us the extra money. Thanks for your replies.

Dee has some speeding tickets and it has yet to cause us a problem.

The rule for under 25 is not stupid, it is an insurance thing, under 25 is a considered a large insurance risk, regardless of how long you have been driving.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your vacation.

Maybe state to state it varies, but after you have been driving for 6 years in MA, you are no longer considered high risk. My insurance dropped dramatically. The moment I turn 25 I am not all of a sudden going to become a wonderful driver (I already am;) ) They should base something like that on how long you have been driving. Anyway Gail, I understand what you are stating.

And plenty of insurance things are stupid. Oh, I could go on and on with that one.

Wow, things sure have changed since I lived in MA. I was born and raised there and my insurance never dropped till I was 25. It dropped dramatically when one got married also.
The risk factor in the 25 thingie has been compiled actuarily, I am sure you are an excellent driver, but, not all under 25 year olds are, and conversly not all over 25 years are either, that is why they have high risk pools. :) I do respectfully disagree that there are plenty of stupid insurance things. Once you stop taking them personally and look at them from a business standpoint, they make perfect sense.
