Question about Cable Internet

Do you use the same Cable line you have for Cable TV for Cable internet or is this something they have to install into your home ?

We use the same line the cable TV comes on.

Same cable here also, split at the junction box on back of house.

We use a different line coming into the house and I believe the reason is because when the guy came out to install it, it was easier to do it this way since the computer cable was going to the other side of the house which was a lot closer off the pole. I like it also this way because when our TV cable goes out , our modem still runs or viceversa, they run on separate wires on the poles too.

I'm using the same company as my cable TV because they had a great offer for cable TV subscribers. On the other hand, my sister has two different systems but I don't know how she worked it out.

Same here too, and if our TV isn't coming in well, I know the internet will be off too!

The same line, I know they split it somehow. Boy, you can tell the guys from us girls, I know I didn't know what a junctiion box is.

Some companys will use same cable,others will split it.
You know once you have cable you'll never go back to dailup!!!!!!

Well I live in an apartment, I am not even sure where the box is Is it possible to split the line after it is inside the house? I would love to upgrade but we can't do any permanant changes.

I have the cable line that run in from the street but a couple of neighbors are using the same line. We all have trouble accessing the internet if someone is already using it. I like to leave mine on all the time. When I got to get into a site, if they are using it ,I get a message...Can not Display.

I'm going to have to call the cable company and ask them for my own line.

we have a splitter behind the tv with a cable running to the PC in the next room. DH runs the cable under the floor (ceiling in the basement). There is other cables coming in to the bedrooms if we would want to move the computer.

disneychrista- we live in an apartment also and they split it inside the apartment.
Something to the cable outlet that gave them two outlets. One for tv one for internet. Works great!

We use the same line too. When the cable gets fuzzy the internet goes out but it doesn't happen too often. We have a router and a hub and sometimes have up to 5 computers running at the same time on the cable internet. The internet service is so good you'd never know you were sharing.

Thanks everyone. After all this even though my cable company offers cable internet, and advertising it here, they don't offer it in my area.
