Question about borrowing points

We are planning to book a GV and one-bed for next Jan at SSR. We have extra points from the most recent offer, so while we'll have to borrow some points from 2008, it won't be many. We also own at BW.

There is a chance that the one bedroom won't be used. Those points will be entirely borrowed from SSR 2008. What happens to those points? When would I have to cancel to get full use of the points?

We will travel to F&W that same year in Nov, staying at BW. Will we be able to use the "cancelled" one bedroom points to book BW at the 7mth window, or what would be our best option? We do not plan to travel again to WDW for several years, but might try HH or VB.

This is our first trip with two home resorts (both have June use years, if that makes a difference). I'm so confused...

I would use the borrowed points for the reservation you know you won't cancel. The borrowed points cannot be banked and will expire at the end of the Use Year into which they were moved - so I'd make sure I was using those points in the current Use Year.
