Question About Booking with Family

We're planning a big trip next year with my family and my sister's family - 9 people total. Is it possible for me to book us together as a group with two rooms on the same reservation? If she has to cancel, will it impact our reservation or can we just cancel one room with her family in it and still keep everything for our room the same?

I honestly have no clue what would happen if you book two rooms under one reservation number and someone needs to cancel. I, personally, would simply book the rooms separately as it really makes no difference in terms of planning. When you make the reservations, just ask the phone CM to link them as "travel with" and make sure any requests you have are on both reservations. I think this will make things easier if someone needs to cancel.
