I am considering booking through AAA to get a discount possibly. I was wondering if you can pay towards the package like you can do with the disney resorts? If I make a deposit can I keep paying through my time of travel. Also is it worth it to purchase a AAA membership to save on the resorts?? I want to stay at a moderate but I do not want to pay full price.

Thanks for any help.

We booked a AAA package in January for our April trip. They required only a $200 deposit, and the balance is due a minimum of 45 days prior to your departure. In lieu of making many payments, I would just set the money aside yourself, and make one single payment a couple of months before you depart.

Depending of the time of year you are traveling you will save 10% to 15% on your room cost from AAA. I believe the cost of AAA is around $50 a year, so it is probably worth the membership for you.

I would suggest booking through dreamsunlimitedtravel.com (a board sponsor) rather than directly through AAA. They can get you a AAA discount, definitely do accept partial payments, and are a lot more knowledgeable about Disney itself. AAA generally gets good discounts when there are discounts at all. I had originally booked a June trip to Pop with a AAA discount at about $100 per night (including taxes). The normal rate is $100 per night, not including tax. The AP discount got me down to about $88 per night. I'm not sure how cost effective it would be to get the AAA just for the discount, but you could weigh that out as you hear more about specific discounts.

which is easier just buying the membership and booking through Disney or just going through the travel agency?

I generally try to avoid booking through Disney. While they are helpful and definitely know the business, they're not going to be proactive about searching for discounts for you. If you hear of one you'd have to call back and update your ressie. With a travel agent like DU, they'll constantly check for new and better codes and will automatically apply them to your ressie if it'll make things cheaper for you.

I second that. DU has handled my past 3 WDW trips (fantastically!), and all with AAA discounts.

We couldn't get the AAA package with the dining plan through a travel agent. I think they can get you the room discount, but if you want the dining package, you have to go through AAA.
