I want to maybe book room only AAA discount, but would also like to have tickets and the dining plan. But I do not want AAA in charge of my reservations :rotfl: and I know if it's a package they are in charge.
AAA said it would be 10% off for room only.
The room only quote for a AAA discount that I got from Disney was less than the quote I got from the AAA TA.
I'm just confused, maybe Disney quoted me the wrong price for the room only discount because it was more than 10 % off.
If I was smart I should of booked it but I didnt do my home work first and didnt know until I figured it up later ( not real good with math unless I have a calculator :rolleyes1 ) . Now I'm hoping if I call Disney back I can get the same discount the first CM gave me, but what do I do about getting tickets and dining ?

You can't get dining at all unless you book a a package. Room, tickets and dining. You can do that either thru Disney or a TA like AAA.

If you are using a AAA discount, you can't book a package through Disney. You can buy tickets with your room reservation, but you can't purchase dining. If you want to purchase a package with tickets and dining, you will need to do it through AAA. I am going through the same thing right now -- I hate having AAA in charge of my reservation, but it's the only way to get the dining plan with a AAA room discount.

Is going thru AAA giving you 10% off just the room rate - or discounts off the ticket price too? We are AAA members. I already have all of our dining reservations made, but am thinking of calling AAA to switch our vacation to be booked thru them in order to get some type of discount. We can't switch our dates in October and have no discount code at all for our stay. I'm bummed.

you can purchase theme park tickets from AAA at a discount without changing your room reservation. Just stop by your local office and you can walk out with the tickets. Or you can order the tickets online at the AAA website.

I'm so bummed also. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what to do to cut down on the price. It just seems so unfair that our weeks would be blacked out. The Gartner group comes in the week after our stay with free dining. It makes no since they would have free dining that week because they say this is a very large group and a lot of restaurants are booked. It is just frustrating

I know what you mean. FD was offered during my October dates but nothing was available at POR for my dates. I could have downgraded to Pop but didn't want to do that. I acutally changed my week from last year as I booked for the 2nd week of October and that week was blacked out for FD. Changing weeks for this year didn't help.

Ignore this. Starting new thread. My post was OT. Sorry about that!

If you don't need the dining plan, why not take the AAA room discount through Disney and buy your tickets through Undercover Tourist? There are other perks to booking through AAA - the fireworks viewing area, parking pass, etc. But if you are just looking to save money and maintain control of your reservation, take the room discount and buy your tickets wherever you can get the best deal. Then have them put on your KTTW card when you get to your resort!

This is pretty much what I do. I book a room with the AAA room only discount as far in advance as possible so I know I'm getting some type of discount and hope something else will pop up. I always buy my passes from UT.

This is only true at certain AAA's....not in Texas or California....

Not sure when your trip is but some travel agents book blocks of rooms.I was able to book a room inJune 2013 and get the dining plan WITHOUT buying tickets. Their pkgs are a little different than Disneys. For me I love it but I don't need tix - I want YES tickets - so this enabled me to get theroom at a discount and a discount off the DDP as well. BUT you must go the week they have the room block. Not much flexibility there at all. But still, if it works for you...
