I did this yesterday to get the package discount as I already have our park tickets (6-day PH's) that I bought a year ago (two price increases ago). I figure the one-day base ticket for us (2 adult, 1 10yo and 1 child) comes to $306.74 including tax. We don't need a seventh day as we were planning on a down day to resort hop and go to DTD, not to mention using the one-day ticket for one park would push the total we spend on tickets over the current price of a 6-day or even 7-day PH now, so I don't really end up saving despite buying my tickets a year ago to save money. I hope that all makes sense.

So I guess my question is, to those who have tickets and book the package with the one-day base ticket to save on the total room cost, how do you use your tickets?

Since once you have a 5 day ticket it is only about $2 or so per day after that, the smart thing to do is have your ticket put on a separate media (either at check-in or at concierge) and then save it. You may upgrade it/use it at any later date.

If you do decide to upgrade either your 6 day ticket or your one day ticket (sometime in the future), use it first then upgrade at guest relations in the park to bring that ticket up to current gate value.

This sticky should help.

If you already have your tickets just don't use the ones that come with your package.
It never expires and I'm sure you'll be going back again and you can use it then. It will be on your room key so be sure to never throw it away until you use it.

Thanks for the replies. The info was very helpful. I was under the impression that the ticket I bought with the package had to be used within 14 days of our stay. Not sure where I got that idea from, but my mind works in mysterious ways sometimes. :lmao:

Anyway, I'm glad to know that one-day ticket doesn't expire so I'll just save all of our tickets and use them the next time we go.

One more question, just so I'm clear, can you upgrade a one-day ticket after you use it as long as you upgrade it within 14 days of using it? I know to use a ticket first and then upgrade it so that I wouldn't be penalized for a ticket that cost less than whatever the current gate price might be in the future. I just wasn't sure if they'd let you do that with a one-day ticket that doesn't have any days left on it, if that makes sense. I guess the question is, can you upgrade a ticket that doesn't have any days of admission left on it.

Yes. As long as you are within 14 days, you can upgrade a used ticket.
