We are platinum and our other travel party in connecting rooms has never sailed before. I was wondering if they would be able to board with us or do we need to stay back in general boarding with them. Thanks!

You would need to stay back and board with their boarding number. You will get various opinions on this.

This. The official stance is that parties wishing to board together should board with the highest number group in the party. Not the lowest.

We cruised with another cabin who were not Platinum. I am definitely a rule follower, so don't be judgy:) We headed to Platinum with our cruise partners in tow. We asked if they needed to check in at the Castaway Club desk and were told it was no problem for them to check in with us. This was in PC. Another instance we were running later than normal and went to the Castaway Club check in desk with my parents (in another cabin and they were Silver) and the cast member saw were were Platinum and gave us and my parents a #1 boarding pass. Boarding had already begun and #2 had just been called. This was in Miami.

We were Silver on our last cruise. My aunt was linked to our reservation as well. (This was the first time she had ever cruise.) We entered the Silver line and she was able to check in with us. No problems, this was in PC.

You can check in at whatever counter if you're traveling together, but you cannot board with platinum if you are not platinum. We were with Platinum guests a couple of weeks ago and they had to wait until our group number boarded to go with us so we could get a group picture taken before boarding the ship.

For the most part that's true. But, on occasion, the CM monitoring that will just wave large parties through on the lowest number's ticket.

They might be permitted to board with you, but you should be prepared for the reverse.

It was briefly mentioned by other replies but are the reservations linked?

Of our DCL cruises we have done three with extended family and every time had the reservations linked. We checked in together each time. It didn’t matter where or that the others were silver. Everyone received our boarding as the one single boarding.

Here's our experience. We travel with Platinum cruisers. Our reservations are linked. We checked in separately. We got boarding number 3. Our friend asked the CMs if we could board with them as a Platinum and she was told that they would have to board with us if we wanted to board together.

Yes, this is the way it's "supposed" to work. But it doesn't always.
