Question about black out dates and gold pass

You get the gold pass price, but avoid the blackout dates.
I wonder if this will be allowed. Normally when one upgrades a ticket that's been used for a given option, the replacement option needs to cover the same options. I wonder if one would be able to do a MYW ticket then upgrade to a Gold or Silver pass that doesn't cover that period. My guess is no.

They've done it for a very long time at DL. And people have reported doing it with these passes.

I followed the same logic, but I was proven wrong. This loophole has worked for Florida residents upgrading to the "select" pass for years. It really seems too good to be true, since we know you can't upgrade to a regular pass if you've used a water park entry, but upgrading a ticket that was used during a blackout period absolutely works.

On another thread (you might have posted there) a ticket CM said that the only time there are restrictions are with the WP&M and the Epcot after 4 passes.

I know they've restricted tickets with WP&M to upgrading to the AP that included those options. Whether they've done so consistently, I can't say.

Correct hence my supposition that if one used a MYW pass for a timeframe they wouldn't be allowed to upgrade to a pass that didn't cover that time. Being wrong would be a good thing in this situation but we all know DVC if inconsistent in such areas.

As another example, we "upgraded" the old DVC AP to a new Gold DVC AP on Dec 23 (for ~$20) it was during a blackout period, and would mean the pass was no longer valid for additional park admission, but it was 10pm on our last trip day, and we got the free MM downloads unlocked for our trip.

Basically, all Gold AP's have blackout dates between the beginning and expiration dates. It doesn't seem to bother Disney if they sell a Gold AP that begins and expires during a blackout period as you don't get additional "blackout days" during your AP.
