question about birthday fun card

hi there, we are going to dl and will be there for my daughters 18th...which happens to fall on mothers day...she wants to get the birthday fun card...my question is do we get the card before we enter the parks or once inside...i ask because i know you can use the card at downtown disney, and this wasnt actually going to be one of our days inside the parks but will be if it has to be...we are scared of the crowds this day....thanks for any help

Do you have an AP? If so then you may be able to get your fun card outside at the ticket booths but my suggestion would be to enter DCA and go to Guest Services there to get it. The ticket lines have been long every time I have been there this year (at least 8-10 times).

If you don't have an AP then she'll be getting free admission, so I assume it's a yes on the AP.

It shouldn't take too long for her to get her fun card. The rest of you could stay in DTD while she handles it.

From the big thread about the birthday promotion, verified by a CM, "The Alternative Gift offers are available to holders of non-blackout Disneyland Resort Annual Passports or to holders of Multi-Day ParkHopper Tickets."

So as long as she has a multi-day ticket (or an AP), and she *could* enter on that day, she can get the funcard at the ticketbooth, then turn around.

She might want to check out the big thread about it to make sure that the place she wanted to spend the money in does take the card.

Ok so we are getting in but our first day is not in the park, (travel day). So when we actually go into the park on my B-day, where do we head? From what i have heard it is to city hall. Also I have never been for a rope drop, but i assume they let people in before to line up. Can i get my card during this time?

We were there on March 27th for my nephews b-day. He is a AP holder... we got is gift card at the Guest Services booth on the outside of DL next to the lockers.

Regarding the multi-day ticket, I'm pretty sure you would have to activate it in order to take advantage of the Funcard. So, even if you do not plan on entering the parks, in order to get the fun card, you would lose a day on your multi-day pass.

You can get the fun card at the ticket booths, at Guest Services or in DL at City Hall. Any of them will be able to help you get the card.

I called the Grand Californian Hotel.

I asked a bunch of questions about this.

The guest may get the Birthday Fun card at the Guest Service windows in the Eplanade. The guest may use the Birthday Fun Card in World of Disney.

What if they had 6 days on their park hopper ticket? They would not have a day taken of as long as they do not go into the park.

My final answer is: Go to Guest Services at the left side of DCA or DL, your choice. Do not enter the parks themselves. Head for World of Disney and use your Birthday Fun Card. Have fun and make sure you wear your shopping shoes. Your multiday ticket will still have the same number of days.
