Question about Big, Fat, Obnoxious Fiance

The thing that got me was how, in one of the "interview" segments of the final episode, Randi's mom made a comment along the lines of how proud she was of her family for all sticking together and standing by Randi, and never wavering in their support, blah, blah, blah...HUH? Where did she come up with this? Never wavered in their support of Randi??? Her siblings threatened not to attend the wedding because it was ruining their family! The only reason they DID attend was because mom basically gave them a big speech about how it would break HER heart if all of her kids weren't there, and SHE really needed them to be there with HER!

I agree with previous posters - you may not like you daughter/sister/brother's choice of a spouse, but their marriage is not about you! Unless we're talking about someone who is abusive or something, whether you like the person or not, shut up and go to the wedding!

ya! i thought the same thing when they said the family never 'waivered'. ha yea right!! When they showed the one part where the siblings and her were sitting at the table saying they weren't going to go, and she was just in tears, i thought how could they sit there and watch her, as she's in tears, and not even care?! and then they talk about how she isn't thinking about the family! ugh!

tricia.

why was the old son still living at home. Did anyone notice whenever he was shown, he had a beer in his hand. Why were the kids so concerned about who she was going to marry. Its not their life. I cant be a part of it was said a couple of times.....what? Its not your life so get over it.

I thought it was all kind of funny. I could see the parents not liking it, but supporting their daughter, but the siblings were overboard.

Then, Randi's comments at the end, I did this for you, yada yada yada.......made it sound a bit fake.

Apparently the neighborhood they live in is near the 750 range. It sure takes an awful lot of income to even get into debt that is near the 750 range.

I just thought that the family put a little too much emphasis on how Steve would fit in and make the family look. I just hope that Randi's future some day husband has watched and will be prepared on what to expect from his inlaws.

it bothered me too about the brothers saying it was ruining the family and their life. what? why would her marrying someone ruin their life? for all they know she might have loved him.
I stopped watching the show after 1-2 episodes and just caught the end of the last one.
I didn't like the idea that she was lied to and the whole show was based on lying. (well I guess they all are:rolleyes: )
but I just didn't like this one.

I have a really stupid question about the show....... I watched the first one but never watched again after that. How did they tape this show without the "family" knowing that they were being taped? Were there "hidden" cameras...... didn't they need microphones on? What am I missing?

I also noticed the older brother with the beer in his hand just about every time they showed him.

I also thought it was strange how her siblings were reacting. Especially after seeing how upset she was that they weren't going to go to the wedding. It all was so odd.

Well, I pretty much agree with all the previous posts about the siblings' attitudes about Steve. I thought the father showed some class by not leaving after Steve came clean.

To give them some benefit of the doubt, they had to absorb all this in just three days. We saw it play out over several weeks, but it was just thrown onto them. It doesn't make their attitude right, but it was probably a shock for them.

I think the family knew that they were going to be involved in some sort of reality show, hence being on camera, and miked for sound, but just did not realize what the reality was really going to be....LOL:p

I thought I was the only one watching that thought her family started to act a little "uppity" at times with Steve's "familly". Lets face it, they couldn't have portrayed themselves (Steve's family) as being any more bizarre...again LOL....but still, if your child says they are in love, you sometimes have to just roll with their choice, whether it is right or wrong. She is an adult and whomever she chooses it is her choice and either her choice is a good one or a bad one, but it still is HER choice.

Can someone help me out? I never watched the show until the final episode. I know Randi has two brothers and one sister, but who was the other female sitting with the family (besides the mother?)

Also, how old are her siblings supposed to be?

Beth, the other girl was her best friend and maid of honor.

I think in the beginning they showed the kids ages but I dont remember what they are. I know the oldest boy is suppose to be older than Randi. I think the youngest girl is around 15 or 16.

Okay........ so the family knew they were on a "reality show" but didn't know what is what about and then their daughter shows up with this obnoxious guy and says she's going to marry him and they can't figure out what the show was about???? I just don't "buy" it. Call me a skeptic but the family HAD to know this was a put on.........

I also felt bad for the best friend. Did you see how upset she was during the whole wedding. I'm glad they didn't really include here in any of the comments at the end.........she stayed out of it and therefore didn't look bad IMO.
However, I think they should have given her some cash for her trouble too! Obviously the "actors" got paid, but did she get anything?

Do you remember what the mother was saying about her younger daughter? "She's just SO UPSET because she had her own ideas about how Randi's wedding was going to be, and what role she had in it."

Uh, excuse me! I think that's a little odd. I've never met a family that uptight in my life! And the comment about the younger daughter being upset because she didn't have a bigger part in the wedding? Who cares! My goodness! It's almost as if she wanted to wear the gown herself and walk down the aisle (though not with Steve).

All of those kids are stuck up and spoiled. The family is just downright rude. ::yes::

<font color=navy>I saw it from another perspective, I guess.

I just saw the last episode, so I don't know what went on in the weeks before. However, from the clips that I saw, Steve was doing his best to be as obnoxious as he could be. If the family knew that this was a reality show, I can understand why they would be so upset at their sister/daughter making such a big commitment to someone who was so different from her.

Also, I had a feeling that they were close, and that the thought of their sister marrying someone so totally different and a slob (I'm saying that from the clips of him eating, and belching, and lifting his shirt while they were playing golf, etc) really upset them.

I think it also illustrated the difference between the love of siblings and the unconditional love of parents.

I liked that last show enough to miss the Apprentice.
