I finally broke down and went to the eye doctor because I needed bifocals. She gave me the prescription and I had it filled but I still needed to take my glasses off when I had to read something so I called her back and asked if I could get a prescription where the lower part is no prescription and she said that that is not possible. Does anyone have a bifocal prescription where the lower part of the lenses is no prescription. I am thinking of going to another eye doctor to see if they would give it to me.

Yes, mine is like that - they have to write it so that the bottom part is the exact opposite of the top part though - so mine is +1.50 for distance and -1.50 for reading (or maybe the other way around, lol, can't remember!) - basically gives me help for distance, and cancels itself out for reading, which I do fine without glasses.
